History

The Iron Workers Shopmen’s Local Union No.805 was chartered on September 14, 1964, in the city of Calgary, Alberta, with jurisdictional boundaries in Red Deer and Southern Alberta. In 1991, Local 805 amalgamated with Local 776 in Northern Alberta, giving complete jurisdiction in the Province of Alberta.

In 1981, Shopmen’s Local Union No.805 created its own Pension Plan for our Members. With the amalgamation of Local 776 in 1991, the viability and participation in the plan increased for all shops throughout the Province of Alberta. The plan continues to grow and prosper. In 2012, Shopmen’s Local Union No.805 created a local wide Health and Welfare benefit plan, further serving our Membership and their families.
